چکیده

This paper presents a design study of a new topology for miniaturized bondwire transformers fabricated and assembled with standard IC bonding wires and toroidal ferrite (Fair-Rite 5975000801) as a magnetic core. The microtransformer realized on a PCB substrate, enables the build of magnetics on-top-of-chip, thus leading to the design of high power density components. Impedance measurements in a frequency range between 100 kHz to 5 MHz, show that the secondary self-inductance is enhanced from 0.3 μH with an epoxy core to 315 μH with the ferrite core. Moreover, the micromachined ferrite improves the coupling coefficient from 0.1 to 0.9 and increases the effective turns ratio from 0.5 to 35. Finally, a low-voltage IC DC-DC converter solution, with the transformer mounted on-top, is proposed for energy harvesting applications. Keywords—bonding wires; bondwire; converter; DC-DC; energy harvesting; ferrite; magnetics; on-chip; PCB; transformer.

Design and fabrication of a 29 H bondwire micro-transformer with LTCC magnetic core on silicon for energy harvesting applications

This paper presents the design of a 1 : 50 bondwire micro-transformer assembled with IC gold bonding wires and a toroidal LTCC magnetic core with race-track shape. The transformer is fabricated on-top of a standard BCD IC in a 15 mm footprint area for micro-power energy harvesting applications. Measurements show a secondary self-inductance up to 29 μH with a maximum Q-factor of 11.6 at 1.3 MHz,...

Piezoelectric Transformers for Ultra-low Voltage Energy Harvesting Applications ¬リニ

This work shows the possibility to exploit piezoelectric transformers (PTs) for implementing step-up oscillators for ultra-low DC voltage energy harvesting (EH) applications. Oscillation is achieved by coupling a common source stage made up of nchannel JFETs with a piezoelectric transformer acting like a high gain notch filter. A voltage doubler is used to store energy in a capacitor. A mathema...

Shape Design Optimization of Unimorph Piezoelectric Cantilever Energy Harvester

The most promising method for micro scale energy scavenging is via vibration energy harvesting which converts mechanical energy to electrical energy. Using piezoelectric cantilevers is the most common method for vibration energy harvesting. Changing the shape of the cantilevers can lead to changing the generated output voltage and power. In this work vibration energy harvesting via piezoelectri...

An Ultra High CMRR Low Voltage Low Power Fully Differential Current Operational Amplifier (COA)

this paper presents a novel fully differential (FD) ultra high common mode rejection ratio (CMRR) current operational amplifier (COA) with very low input impedance. Its FD structure that attenuates common mode signals over all stages grants ultra high CMRR and power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) that makes it suitable for mixed mode and accurate applications. Its performance is verified by HSPI...
